The Curriculum Transformation Projects have been gradually established to review all courses within the schools and colleges.
As we navigate the dynamic landscape of higher education, we recognize the importance of evolving to meet the needs of our students, staff, and the broader academic community. In response, we are reimagining our curriculum through Curriculum Transformation Projects. These initiatives reflect our commitment to delivering a high-quality, relevant education that meets the diverse needs of our student body while preparing for the challenges of the future.
The information below provides a further overview of each project running since 2022.
Undergraduate Curriculum Transformation
The Undergraduate Curriculum Transformation began in the late 2021/2022 academic year for delivery from September 2023. The new curriculum is delivered across colleges and schools located in Coventry to ensure a sustainable, inclusive, and forward-thinking approach to learning and teaching. It is driven by the following aspects:
- Streamlining Structures: Simplifying course assessment and management to enhance efficiency and sustainability for staff.
- Strengthening Collaboration: Building cohesive course and module teams that foster supportive and effective teaching environments.
- Enhancing Student Success: Creating a curriculum that better supports students during their transition to university, improving retention and outcomes, particularly at Level 4.
- Addressing Financial Realities: Responding to the constraints of capped tuition fees and potential reductions highlighted by the Augar Review.
- Simplifying Delivery: Reducing the complexity of our course and module offerings to support more effective assessment practices and improve progression rates.

School of Health Curriculum Transformation (Pre-registration Courses)
The School of Health and Care curriculum transformation project began in 2023/2024 academic year and aims to launch a new suite of pre-registration courses from September 2025. The new curricula will be delivered across multiple Coventry University Group sites, for fee-paying undergraduate and postgraduate, and apprenticeship provision leading to registrant status.
Fee-paying Undergraduate and Postgraduate
The curriculum is designed to foster inclusivity, respecting the diversity and dignity of all people. It equips learners to shape and influence healthcare both now and in the future, meeting the needs of individuals, groups, and communities. There are two core themes central to the new curriculum: global citizenship and a commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. These themes are woven throughout six curriculum pillars, which are the foundation of all pre-registration courses. The curriculum is designed with block delivery in mind, accommodating growth of up to six intakes per academic year across multiple locations.
Apprenticeship
Whilst apprenticeship curriculum has many synergies with the fee-paying curriculum in terms of pedagogies and curriculum pillars, it is designed with employer and learner needs at it's core, with delivery modes designed to support growth in our provision locally and nationally. The apprenticeship curriculum is designed to reflect the University Group apprenticeship principles, as well as to result in an academic award that aligns to ESFA requirements and is recognised by the professional, statutory and regulatory bodies.

Postgraduate (Taught) Curriculum Transformation
Postgraduate (Taught) Curriculum Transformation was first launched in late 2023/2024 academic year for delivery in September 2025. All postgraduate taught courses across the Coventry University Group are moving to more standardised 30 credit module structure, delivered one module at a time (block delivery). This approach should support learners in their studies, allowing them to focus on one key subject at a time. There will be a natural reduction in summative assessment points through delivery in larger module sizes and the design of the modules will generally be to have one submission point for assessments, at the end of the module. Additionally, courses are being designed to allow up to six intakes per year, increasing opportunities for learners to join and giving efficiency in delivery patterns for the University Group.
