The Assessment Strategy sets out the purpose and value of formative and summative assessment across the Coventry University Group. It is closely aligned to the Education Strategy and our Corporate Goals. The university is committed to a course-based approach across all aspects of student education. This has proved to be very effective for the student experience and is a key principle in our assessment strategy.
The strategy outlines 10 principles of assessment that underpin assessment and feedback practices. These principles and objectives are driving assessment and feedback at course level.
A course level assessment strategy has to be clearly outlined for all courses and presented at course approval events, course reviews and shared with students on the course. Ongoing course modifications (major or minor) will have to consider how these changes impact on assessment on the course. Ownership and accountability for assessment is firmly placed within course teams, supported by Faculty and Central University Services.
